His grasp of legal matters allowed him to serve under various capacities for a number of firms and companies — which included stints as secretary for Criminal Code Review Panel, lawyer with Indonesian Advocates’ Association (Peradin) legal aid department, as well as other posts within PT Bank Dagang Nasional Indonesia (BDNI) Tbk and Gajah Tunggal Group.
In 2001, Lukas established Soeprapto Lukas Budiono and Partners — the foundation of what is now known as Lukas Budiono and Partners. Since 2009, Lukas, supported by his team of dedicated staff, has used his expertise to help clients navigate through scores of non-litigation and litigation cases across various sectors including banking, capital market, finance, restructuring and bankruptcy.
In addition to acting as adviser to various state- owned enterprises and their subsidiaries, such as Hutama Karya, Pupuk Indonesia, Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, Petrokimia Gresik and Pupuk Kujang, Lukas has also acted on behalf of high-profile international corporate clients — including acting as co-counsel in the acquisition of Bank Permata by Bangkok Bank Plc, the largest ever intra-Asean bank acquisition since the bloc was founded — as well as individuals, including ECW Neloe and Jero Wacik, among others.
A registered advocate with the Indonesian Bar Association, Lukas is also a member of Indonesia Association of Capital Market Legal Consultant (HKHPM). He is also registered with the Capital Market Supervisory Agency and the Financial Services Authority (OJK), enabling him to offer a comprehensive solution to any client’s conundrum.
